The latest from Elmwicke

A quick update from Elmwicke 2016 July 06 2016

I'm delighted to say that we are at Tewkesbury Farmers Market this weekend. We will have burgers and sausages for sale, so please come along.

The camping field is looking great and we have kept a 'nature strip' this year. The children can hide in it, go on a 'bear hunt', or watch all the butterflies and larks in it. We hope to see you at our campsite this summer!

Welcome to the world! December 11 2015

Our beautiful cows have calved!

This is Addy, short for Advent. She was born on the 5th December.

Catching up! November 18 2015

Sorry for the radio silence; we've been so busy this year that keeping the website up-to-date has become a bit of a luxury.

2015 has been a great year for Elmwicke. Here's a quick round up:

Farmer of the Year

We could have burst with pride when we were nominated as a finalist for "Farmer of the Year" in the Taste of Gloucestershire Food and Farming Awards 2015.

There was a lovely article written here, which gives a bit of background on our time at the farm, and why we were nominated for the award. We were so thrilled to be nominated, it makes all the early starts, long days, and grubby jobs worthwhile!

We thoroughly enjoyed welcoming the Campers to Elmwicke this summer, and we hope that a great time was had by all.

This year, we added new play equipment (for the children!) to the camping field, and a new shower and toilet block, as well as electric hook-ups, which were all well received. Once again, our trailer rides and farm tours provided much for the Campers, young and old! The fire pits and barbecue baskets continue to be a hit, so we will be offering these in 2016.

We plan to open for camping in July and August 2016, so please get in touch if you would like to make a reservation.

The animals

We're pleased to report that our cows, Eve, Daffodil and Violet are in calf. Eve and Daffodil are due in December, and Violet is due in April - exciting times for us all. As for our lovely sheep, the tups are in the with the ewes, and we plan to increase numbers of lambs in 2016. Fingers crossed.

Tewkesbury Farmers Market

The market has been very successful for us this year and we would like to express our gratitude to our loyal and regular customer base. We have found that along with the popularity of our delicious joints, sausages and mince, the mutton sales have been impressive this year. The market takes place every second Saturday. Click here for the next dates and mark you calendars for the special Christmas market on December 12th.

So that's all for now. If you have any lamb recipes you would like to share, or any comments for us, please do not hesitate to get in touch!

The nights are drawing in! October 03 2014

It's hard to believe that there are just 3 Tewkesbury market days left in 2014!

We will be in our usual spot on:

  • 11th October
  • 8th November
  • 13th December

We will be selling our best-selling lamb and mint sausages, along with plenty of other meat cuts. Come along and choose some amazing meats now that the darker nights and colder mornings are upon us. Or, be really organised and get your meat for Christmas.

In other news, I'm pleased to say that as part of our plan to grow the farm, we have introduced Daffodil and Eve, Gloucester cattle, along with a couple of "Dexters", Dickie and Daisy.

Also for the second year running we have prepared some sheepskins and there will potentially be a couple for sale. Contact us if you are interested!

A big thank you - Camping is over for this year! September 01 2014

Thanks very much to all of the campers who visited the Elmwicke campsite this year. We have had a great few months, and hope our visitors did also. Watch this space for details of our 2015 camping dates and availability. In the meantime, you can read what the lovely campers had to say about our campsite, here on and tripadvisor. We hope to see you in 2015!

Fabulous summer all round! August 06 2014

Yesterday I went with Dad-in-law, Mike, to Worcester for the central region Jacob show and sale.  We bought a very handsome ram called 'Captain' who will fit right in at Red House Farm.  We will have 29 ewes for breeding this year which is fantastic and they are all looking in fabulous condition.

Camping bookings have been really high. We have only three pitches available over the bank holiday weekend. We are currently out of stock for all burgers and sausages due to everybody wanting them! More will be here on Friday 8th August, phew!  People have left us the most fantastic reviews on and we have been overwhelmed by the lovely comments.

Having walked a couple of teenage girls round the farm introducing them to the sheep, cows and chickens, I realised what a lucky person I am as they both told me they'd never been on a farm before, or got that close to animals, and how much they'd loved it. It's great being able to show the campers what living on a farm is like.

Tewkesbury Farmers Market is this weekend, Saturday 10th August, 9 till 1.30pm. We will have various joints for sale plus lots of minted lamb burgers and sausages!  Hope to see you there.

Spring 2014 - A Quick Update! April 11 2014

Don't the months fly by?

In a blink of an eye, the lambing season is over, the cowslips are out, and spring has officially arrived.

We have started receiving our first camping bookings for the summer months. In 2014, our campsite is open all of July and August, so click here to make a reservation. This year, there are two fields, either side of the farmhouse, that will be open to campers. We also have a fabulous new toilet and shower block that you can enjoy.

As I type, we are babysitting a couple of cows....never a dull moment at the farm!

We will be selling our lamb at Tewkesbury Farmers Market on Saturday 12th April, 9 till 1.30pm. Pop by and say hello!

New Year's Greetings from Everyone at Elmwicke! January 17 2014

Spring is here… finally! May 03 2013

Hurrah the simple but incredibly beautiful ‘Cowslips’ have sprung.  We can now say that spring is definitely here at Red House Farm, well that and the first cuckoo call. Normally we would be able to say this when we commence the lambing but due to the rotten weather we have faced instead of sun and wind we have been bombarded with rain and howling gales! Not nice for welcoming new lambs into the world.

Fortunately, our ewes are a hardy bunch and we have lambed outside as usual so as far as the lambs are concerned the weather can only get better!
